Save the date and your stuff for America Recycles Day
On Saturday, November 22, 2014, Gwinnett County will host its fifth annual America Recycles Day celebration, a nationally recognized initiative dedicated to encouraging people to recycle more at home, at work and on the go. This event is hosted by the Gwinnett County Solid Waste Division and will run from 9:00am to noon at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Braves.

This celebration is free to the public and includes tire recycling (limit 8 tires per vehicle, no dealer tires), electronics recycling ($10 cash fee per TV), paint collection (eight, one-gallon cans), toner/printer cartridge recycling. Please bring your old sneakers to be donated to those in need or recycled into reusable surfaces for playgrounds and running tracks. There will also be kids' activities, giveaways, and refreshments while supplies last.

Earth Day 2014 a Success!
Gwinnett County celebrated Earth Day with the Solid Waste and Recovered Materials Division on Saturday, May 10 at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Braves in Lawrenceville. Residents brought more than 5 tons of electronics, 7.5 tons of tires, 40 household toner cartridges, and 278 pairs of old sneakers. In addition, 800 gallons of paint were donated to Global Paint for Charity and 200 gallons have already been given to the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless to help facelift the walls for the Peachtree Pine Homeless Shelter building. Together, we do great things!

Attendees enjoyed kids’ activities and games, and got a chance to meet their residential haulers. Thanks to Advanced Disposal, Republic Services, Sanitation Solutions, Southern Sanitation, and Waste Pro along with the Gwinnett Braves, ViaTek Solutions, Global Paint for Charity, and LaRaza  102.3FM for their partnership in this exciting event. Be sure to join us next year for this annual national celebration!
