Shooting - Days Inn, Stone Mountain

(Stone Mountain, Georgia)  On Tuesday, November 24, at 4:24am, a call came into the Gwinnett County Police Department 911 Center of a possible robbery in Room 116 of the Days Inn at 2006 Glenn Club Drive in unincorporated Stone Mountain.  The occupants of Room 117 called the front desk to report the commotion.  The front desk employee called 911.

While the first responding officers were on their way to the scene, the call was upgraded to a possible shooting.  Once officers arrived on scene, they located a Hispanic male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside Room 116.  The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville for treatment.  His injuries are serious and life-threatening.

The officers at the scene contacted detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit to respond.

Several witnesses stayed on scene to be interviewed by the lead investigator.  The preliminary investigation has revealed that 4 Hispanic males occupied Room 116.  They are residents of North Carolina who were doing work locally.  They rented a room at the Days Inn for the evening.

The lead investigator is still trying to determine why the victims were targeted.  At this time, we believe this crime (robbery and shooting) was committed by 3 black males.  After the shooting, the 3 suspects stole the victim’s vehicle.

The victim’s vehicle:

  • Make / Model:            Lexus / GS300
  • Year:                           1999
  • Color:                          Black
  • License Plate:           BJC2411 (North Carolina)

Once the family of the victim has been notified of the victim’s condition, I will update this Media Release with his information.
