Road Closures

• Azalea Drive north of Braselton Highway will close May 23 through June for culvert replacement, weather permitting.  The detour route will be Azalea Drive to Braselton Highway to Ridge Road to Prospect Road to Azalea Drive and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6926.

• Bowman Road from Chandler Road intersection will close April 22 for one month for drainage improvements, weather permitting.  The detour route will be Bowman Road to Chandler Road to New Hope Road to Bowman Road and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6926.

• Bramlett Forest Trail north of its intersection with Bramlett Forest Court will close on May 2 for two weeks for emergency sewer repairs. The detour route will be the opposite direction on Bramlett Forest Trail to Bramlett Forest Court to Bramlett Forest Trail and the reverse. • Chandler Road south of Bowman Road intersection will close May 23 through June for drainage improvements.  The detour route will be Chandler Road to Grayson New Hope Road to Chandler Road and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6926.

• Cruse Road from Meadow View Lane to Brompton Court intersections will close May 28 through June for drainage improvements.  The detour route will be Cruse Road to Club Drive to Pleasant Hill Road to Cruse Road and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6926.

• Cruse Road from Sweetwater Circle to Club Drive will require intermittent lane closures, and traffic shifts through September for roadway improvements and bridge replacement, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• East Morningside Drive northwest of Swanson Drive to southeast of Morningside Drive will close April 15 through May for culvert improvements. The detour route will be East Morningside Drive to Swanson Drive to Buford Highway to Braselton Highway to Northside Drive to East Morningside Drive and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6983.

• Hamilton Parc Lane from Parclane Mill Way to SE end will require intermittent lane closures, and traffic shifts through June for a culvert replacement, weather permitting. For further information contact Department of Water Resources at 678-376-6926.

• Highpoint Road south of Holly Brook Road will close May 28 through mid-July for culvert replacement.  The detour route will be Highpoint Road to Oak Road to Dogwood Road to Highpoint Road and the reverse.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.6926.

• Hurricane Shoals Road from SR 120 to SR 20 will require intermittent lane closures through November for roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• I-85 at Jimmy Carter Boulevard will require intermittent nightly lane closures beginning April 23 through May for work associated with Jimmy Carter Diamond Diverging Interchange, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 8:00pm and 5:00am.

• I-85 at Pleasant Hill Road will require intermittent nightly lane closures beginning May 12 for three weeks for work associated with Pleasant Hill Road Diamond Diverging Interchange, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 8:00pm and 5:00am.

• Jimmy Carter Boulevard at Singleton Road will require intermittent lane closures through June for roadway and pedestrian improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Jimmy Carter Boulevard from Goshen Springs Road/Crescent Drive to Dawson Boulevard/Live Oak Parkway will require intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts through March 2014 for road work and I-85 interchange improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm, and 7:00pm to 6:00am.

• Killian Hill Road from Stonemont Drive to Pathfinder Way will require intermittent lane closures, and traffic shifts through August for bridge replacement and roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Lawrenceville Highway/US 29 from Rockbridge Road to Hillcrest Road will require intermittent lane closures through June for pedestrian improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• North Berkeley Lake Road from Bush Road to Frederica Road will require intermittent lane closures through July for roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Old Peachtree Road at Cedar Road will require intermittent lane closures through September for intersection improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Old Peachtree Road at Sunny Hill Road will require intermittent lane closures through June for roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Pleasant Hill Road from Breckinridge Boulevard to Koger Boulevard will require lane closures on April 27 through April 29, May 4 through May 5 and May 18 through May 20 between the hours of 8:00pm and 6:00am for drainage improvements, weather permitting.  For further information contact the Department of Water Resources at 678.376.7000.

• Peachtree Industrial Boulevard from Rogers Bridge Road to Pleasant Hill Road will require intermittent lane closures through September for Multi-Purpose Trail installation, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Pleasant Hill Road bridge over I-85 will close at 9:00pm on June 7 through 5:00am on June 10 for roadway and bridge improvements. The detour route will be Pleasant Hill Road to Satellite Boulevard to Steve Reynolds Boulevard to Shackleford Road to Pleasant Hill Road and the reverse. • Pleasant Hill Road from Breckinridge Boulevard / Shackleford Road to Venture Parkway will require intermittent lane closures, and traffic shifts through August for road work and I-85 interchange improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm, and 9:00pm to 6:00am.

• Pleasant Hill Road from McClure Bridge Road / Howell Ferry Road to US 23/ Buford Highway will require intermittent lane closures through September for road widening and improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm.

• Puckett Mill Road at Camp Branch Road will close May 20 through May 23 for drainage improvements. The detour route will be Puckett Mill Road to Hamilton Mill Road to Camp Branch Road to Puckett Mill Road and the reverse. • Ridge Drive from Satellite Boulevard to Woodward Mill Road will close until further notice.

• Rock Springs Road from Bluffton Road to Pine Log Way will require intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts through June for roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• SR 124/Centerville Highway from Norris Lake Road to Oak Rd will require intermittent lane closures through May for ATMS improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• SR 316/University Parkway from Winder Highway to Harbins Road will require intermittent lane closures through May for roadway improvements associated with Sugarloaf Parkway extension, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Simonton Road from New Hope Road to Madison Chase Way will require intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts through June 2014 for roadway improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

• Sweetwater Road from Old Norcross Road and Pleasant Hill Road is closed due to emergency drainage repairs. The detour route will be Sweetwater Road to Old Norcross Road to Breckinridge Boulevard to Pleasant Hill Road to Sweetwater Road and the reverse. • West Campbell Road closed permanently due to Sugarloaf Parkway extension.

• West Park Place Boulevard/Rockbridge Road/Annistown Road from US 78/Stone Mountain Highway to SR 124/Centerville Highway will require intermittent lane closures through August for ATMS improvements, weather permitting. Any such closures will be between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm

During the weekend, the bridge will be closed to all through traffic; however, right turn access to and from I-85 will not be impacted. For safety reasons, pedestrian traffic on the bridge will be prohibited for at least one month following the crossover of traffic while the pedestrian walkways are constructed.

Detour route
During the weekend of construction, drivers and pedestrians should take Pleasant Hill Road to Satellite Boulevard to Steve Reynolds Boulevard to Shackleford Road to Pleasant Hill Road and the reverse as their detour. Gwinnett County Transportation staff will monitor traffic flow and signals in this area during the closure to help keep traffic moving. Pedestrian traffic should continue to use the detour route after the crossover occurs for approximately one month. Click here to review the detour map. 

Construction continues
After crossover, construction will continue for the center median and pedestrian facilities and finalization of the signals and pavement markings. The project is expected to be complete in September with landscaping to begin in the fall. Once the project is complete, the DDI at Pleasant Hill Road and I-85 will be Gwinnett County’s first diverging diamond interchange and the second in Georgia.
