(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 23, 2017) – Live Healthy Gwinnett is pleased to announce the first annual free Wellness Walk hosted by Bethesda Elementary School Parent Teacher Association on Saturday, March 25 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. In partnership with Live Healthy Gwinnett, parent volunteers, and community partners, this wellness event will include Zumba demonstrations, active lifestyle give-a-ways, healthy snacks, photo-booth and a 2-mile round-trip walk to Sweet Water Park. Get active and celebrate students who are being active for 90 minutes! Families will also obtain materials on community wellness opportunities, programs and events happening in Gwinnett from participating partners who include: Live Healthy Gwinnett, J.M. Tull-Gwinnett Family YMCA, Amerigroup, Kroger, Berean Christian Church, Sprouts Farmers Market, Aldi and CVS.

“Our goal is to encourage wellness and provide a fun, active lifestyle experience that students can share with their families,” said Akilah Grant, BES PTA Health & Wellness Chair. “Exercising increases attention spans and boosts immune systems, all things our BES Cardinals will benefit from!” Leading up to Saturday, Bethesda Elementary School students will participate in morning announcement stretches each day. Thanks to parent volunteers and community partners, posters were created featuring actual BES students demonstrating an exercise for each day of the week. “Live Healthy Gwinnett is proud to partner with such a committed group of parents, teachers, and students to encourage fitness on this walk in Sweet Water Park,” said Lindsey Jorstad, Community Services Outreach Manager.

Bethesda PTA President, Ann Malkoc states, “We are grateful to offer this event at no charge because of our partner and volunteer support.” Assistant Principal Roger Johns, PTA Board Members and Gwinnett community partners will be present to host this first-time event. Bethesda Elementary School is located at 525 Bethesda School Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044.
