Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Court Operations Division undergoes Active Shooter Training

(Gwinnett County, Ga., December 5, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Court Operations Division successfully conducted a live, multi-agency, active shooter exercise at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 8:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.

The purpose of this realistic exercise was to continue our readiness response to the threat of an active shooter. This training was conducted as a proactive measure by a coalition of working agencies that make up the emergency response forces in Gwinnett County. The intent and desired effect was to bolster readiness and hone response time as well as collective agency cohesiveness in emergency scenarios. This was the first of many upcoming joint-training exercises to ensure that Gwinnett’s emergency responsiveness remains elite and professional.

This multi-agency exercise was professionally conducted by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County Police Department and S.W.A.T., Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office, Lawrenceville Police Department, Gwinnett County Emergency Management, Georgia Gwinnett College, and Northside Hospital. We also greatly appreciate our civilian volunteers who contributed their personal time to role-play as victims and injured personnel. We would like to thank all residents and business owners for their patience and cooperation during the scenario training.
