Arson Suspected In Vacant House Fire - Nichols Court

(Lilburn, Ga., August 22, 2016) – Fire Investigators are working to determine who is responsible for setting fire to a vacant house on Monday, August 22, 2016.  Firefighters responded at 1:06p.m., to a neighbor report of a fire in the 4100 block of Nichols Court, SW in (unincorporated) Lilburn.

Crews arrived to find smoke and flames showing from the two-story wood frame house over a basement.  Firefighters quickly deployed attack hose lines and entered the home to conduct a primary search and combat the blaze.  The fire caused extensive damage inside the home.  The house appears to be vacant and no one was at the location when the fire department arrived.  There were no injuries reported.  Fire Investigators are attempting to determine the status of the property and establish contact with the owner.  Specific information about the fire is not being released based on the ongoing investigation. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678.518.4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1.800.282.5804.  Georgia Arson Control, Inc. offers a reward of UP TO $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for arson.   Arson is a serious felony crime and is punishable by one to 20-years imprisonment and associated fines.

Residents in the area are asked to stay alert to their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately by calling 9-1-1.
