BUSINESS FIRE-3100 BLOCK OF LAWRENCEVILLE HIGHWAY, NW IN LAWRENCEVILLE

Firefighters responded at 10:17 a.m., to a report of a business fire in the 3100 block of Lawrenceville Highway, NW near James Road in (unincorporated) Lawrenceville.  The caller was from a neighboring business and reported smoke showing from a tax preparer’s office.

Firefighters arrived to find light smoke showing from the roof on the front-left corner of a wood-frame office building.  The business was closed at the time and firefighters had to force entry to gain access inside.  Crews pulled ceiling material in the front room and quickly extinguished a small fire in the attic space.  There was no one at the business when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.  Per Fire Investigators, the blaze appears accidental and originated from an electrical source.  The building was turned over to the property owner once fire crews left the scene.

The southbound lanes of Highway-29 were temporarily blocked by fire equipment in the roadway.  Police diverted traffic around the incident and used the turn lane to keep traffic moving southbound.
