MULTI-AGENCY FIRE DEPARTMENTS CONDUCT SWIFTWATER RESCUE TRAINING AT SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA

WHY:               Fire Departments are teaming up to enhance the training opportunities available to emergency responders during the busy summer season and share a safety message for river patrons.  Firefighters are conducting a three-day rigorous training exercises at the Thunder River attraction at Six Flags Over Georgia.  Thunder River is an excellent example of basic river dynamics and hydrology features. Firefighters will be perfecting their skills to swim across strong currents, demonstrate swiftwater rescue techniques, deal with obstacles in the water and learn self-rescue and survival methods.  Interviews with team members will be available.

                        All media will be escorted and are asked to report to the security post off Riverside Parkway, from I-20.  Take the second entrance to Six Flags on the left off Riverside.  Go to the stop sign and turn right to get to the security post.
