GCPD's 98th Police Academy Gives Back

(Lilburn, Georgia)  This past Saturday (07/29/2017) the 98th Police Academy partnered with Yo! Gwinnett at their back to school bash. The event was held at Berkmar High School between 10am-1pm.  During the event, patrons were treated to games and vendors and culminated in a backpack and school supply give away.

The Recruits assisted in handing out the backpacks and school supplies.  Many of the supplies were donated by the recruits themselves.  They also gave away stickers, beach balls, and pencils.  Many of the recruits took the time to engage the kids in conversation and played with them.

This is the 4th recruit class to participate in a community service project.  The Gwinnett County Police believe in having strong ties to the community in which we police in.  It is also a great way for the recruits to give themselves to others.  Because of Yo! (Youth Outreach) Gwinnett, over 200 students will have adequate schools supplies to start the new school year.
