Man Caught on Camera Buying Flowers after Motor Vehicle Theft

(Duluth, Georgia)  The GCPD Motor Vehicle Theft Unit needs the public’s help in locating a stolen minivan and identifying a suspect who may be responsible for the crime.  On Sunday, March 4, at around 1:30pm, a Duluth resident visited his local gym at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.  While inside the gym, an unknown person broke into his secured locker and stole his belongings.  Among the items stolen were the keys to his black minivan.  The vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot by the time the victim went outside.

Shortly after the theft, the victim began to receive alerts that his stolen credit cards had been used to make fraudulent purchases at a few local grocery stores.  The responding officers visited one of the grocery stores and obtained surveillance footage of a suspect using one of the victim’s stolen credit cards.  In the video, a black male is seen approaching the self-service machines with a bouquet of yellow flowers.  After he scans the flowers, he scans several gift cards.  The unidentified suspect used the victim’s credit card to charge nearly $500.

The black 2016 Kia Sedona is still listed as stolen 9 days after the initial theft.  The license plate on the back of the vehicle should display RZZ1150.
