Multiple Suspects Caught Trying to Steal High-End Sports Cars

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  Two men and one juvenile have been charged with attempting to steal motor vehicles from a local vehicle storage lot.  And, at least two others are still being sought.  The call came into the 911 Center on Thursday, March 16 around 3am.

A commercial vehicle driver arrived at 1490 Winder Highway in unincorporated Lawrenceville to pick up a delivery of vehicles.  When he arrived at the location, he noticed that no one was at the guard shack.  As he was waiting at the gate, he saw two Chevrolet Camaros being driven towards him from within the property.  When they saw the commercial vehicle driver, the drivers of the Camaros turned around and drove the opposite direction.  Soon after, the security guard pulled up to the gate acting suspicious.

The commercial vehicle driver eventually called 911.  When officers arrived, they spoke with the security guard, Terance Hampton (age 22, Dacula) who told them that everything was ok and that nothing was going on.  Hampton’s car was parked nearby, and Alexandru Barna (age 20, Dacula) was inside.

When one of the officers pulled onto the property, he could see the two Camaros being driven in the parking lot.  The vehicles stopped and several black males ran.  One of the suspects jumped over a barb-wire fence and into the woods.  A K9 officer arrived on scene and began searching the area.

After the K9 began searching, a juvenile male exited the woods and surrendered.  At the conclusion of the on-scene investigation, it was determined that Hampton, Barna, and the juvenile were associated with the attempt to steal the motor vehicles. At least two other males are still unidentified.  Hampton and Barna were arrested at the scene and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.  They have both been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit a Crime.  The juvenile was also charged, though he was released to a parent
