"Operation Water Hazard" Yields 22 Arrests

(Lawrenceville, Georgia) Gwinnett County Police are announcing the arrests of 22 people after a two month Gang Task Force investigation named, “Operation Water Hazard.” The investigation started over two months ago and revolved around drug activity, gang activity, and a shooting at 3370 Club Drive in Lawrenceville. The shooting left a man shot in the chest. He survived and is out of the hospital. The investigation came to an end February 9th when Gwinnett County Police SWAT, Criminal Investigations Division, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Georgia Army National Guard Counterdrug Task Force executed two simultaneous search warrants at the duplex.

Police seized Cocaine, Xanax, Marijuana, Hydrocodone, Tramadol and seven firearms. Over 30 felony arrest warrants have been obtained and Gang Charges are pending for some of the people who were arrested. An arrest warrant was also taken out for a man who failed to register as a sex offender after absconding from Michigan. The success of this operation illustrates the power and importance of local, state, and federal law enforcement partnerships. Gwinnett County Police Chief Butch Ayers said, “We believe that this operation sends a clear message to would be offenders that this type of criminal activity will not be tolerated in Gwinnett County because we strongly value the safety and quality of life of our citizens.” 

The following chart displays those who were arrested during the entire operation. A total of 12 were arrested on February9th. The remaining 10 were arrested before the conclusion of the operation.
