***UPDATE #3: Pizza Worker Homicide - Two Persons Arrested

Update #3, 05/31/2016, 9:40am: Tye Stewart (age 25, Snellville) has been arrested for his involvement in this case.  He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Monday, May 30 shortly before 5am.  Stewart has been charged with Murder and Armed Robbery.

Update #2, 05/29/2016, 9:05pm: Members of the Gwinnett County Police Department arrested Tremaine Washington this afternoon in Snellville, Georgia in connection with the murder of Robert Purcell.  Washington is an 18 year old male that lives in Snellville.  He has been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.  Washington is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.

Purcell was last seen in the parking lot of the Marco’s Pizza on May 26th.  He was known to sleep in his vehicle on the nights before he worked.  Investigators believe that robbery was a potential motive in the murder.  At this time they are still investigating the incident and the possibility of more suspects.  (Flynn)

Update #1, 05/29/2016, 3:32pm:

The victim of this homicide is Robert Purcell, a 40 year old male.  Purcell was homeless and living out of the vehicle that he was discovered in.  Purcell worked at the Marco’s Pizza located at 3300 Centerville Highway in Snellville.

At this time, investigators are following up leads and it is believed that robbery may be the motive.  Another media release will be distributed when more information is gathered.  (Flynn)

Original, 05/28/2016. 10:17pm:

(Stone Mountain, Georgia) On May 28th, 2016, the Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a missing person call at a pizza restaurant in Snellville, Georgia, in unincorporated Gwinnett County.  When they arrived, they learned from employees of that business that a male employee was missing.  They informed officers that the male, and his vehicle, which was normally parked out back, was missing.  Officers located some of the victim’s belongings in the parking lot behind the business but were unable to locate him.

Later that day, members of the Gwinnett County Police Department located the victim’s vehicle parked on the exit ramp from Highway 78 westbound to Hugh Howell Road.  The victim was located inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound that did not appear self-inflicted.  Homicide investigators responded and are investigating the incident at this time.  The identity of the victim is being withheld until a next of kin can be notified.

This is the beginning stages of the investigation.  The location of the pizza restaurant will be withheld until the next of kin can be notified.  We will release more information as it becomes available.
