Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Flees from Police and Tries to Run Over Officer, Suspect Apprehended

(Lawrenceville, Georgia) Today shortly after 4:00am a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in the city limits of Lilburn.  The victim left his Toyota Corolla running for a brief moment when he first arrived at work and the vehicle was stolen.  A few hours later a lookout was given out for units in the area of Riverside Parkway and Lawrenceville Suwanee Road.  The victim’s phone was still in the vehicle and he was able to track its movements.  Officers from Gwinnett Police, Lawrenceville Police, and Georgia Gwinnett College searched the area for approximately 40 minutes but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Approximately 20 minutes later a Gwinnett Police officer was notified of a dispute occurring in the parking lot of the Collins Hill Library.  Two males were in a dispute over an unknown reason.  The officer approached to investigate and realized that the vehicle near one of the males was the stolen vehicle from earlier.  The officer tried to detain the suspect and a physical altercation ensued.  The suspect fled in the vehicle, causing minor injuries to the officer, and struck another vehicle as it was leaving.  Gwinnett Police officers quickly responded to the area to search for the vehicle.  They were receiving updates via the phone tracking but there was a slight delay.  Lawrenceville Police officers located the vehicle in the area of Lawrenceville Suwanee Road and Duluth Highway.  The suspect continued to flee apprehension.  At one point he attempted to run over an officer that was out of his patrol car.

Georgia State Patrol responded to the area to assist as well.  A Trooper ultimately performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle in the area of W Pike Street and Dons Way in the city of Lawrenceville.  The suspect was apprehended.  The suspect was identified as Brian Ngo (23 years old) from Lawrenceville.  He is facing charges of Theft by Receiving, Felony Obstruction, Hit and Run, Aggravated Assault, and numerous traffic charges.
