UPDATE #1: Homicide - Smokecreek Pkwy

UPDATE (Lawrenceville, Georgia) The suspect in this case has been identified as Robert Jennings (B/M, 31 years old).  Jennings is a resident of the Smokecreek Mobile Home Park.  Detectives obtained warrants against Jennings for aggravated assault and felony murder.  He turned himself in at police headquarters this morning.

The victim in this case is Ezekial Smith (B/M, 18 years old), who was also a resident of the Smokecreek Mobile Home Park.

Detectives believe there are additional witnesses who have not come forward.  Anyone with information to share in this case should contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

ORIGINAL RELEASE (Snellville, Georgia) On May 23 Gwinnett Police responded to Smokecreek Mobile Home Park in unincorporated Snellville in reference to a person shot.  The call came in at 8:26pm.  When officers arrived they learned that the victim had already been transported by an individual to a local hospital and the suspect had fled the scene.  The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.  Two black males got into an altercation near the basketball court area and one of them produced a handgun and shot the other male.  Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene.  Detectives are interviewing witnesses in the area to determine what led to this shooting.  The Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene for any evidence.  We will provide updates in reference to this case as soon as we have them.
