Original:  Monday, June 1, 2015:

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  On Thursday, March 26, Jeffery Jackson called the 911 Center to report that he had been the victim of a residential burglary.  An officer assigned to the Central Precinct responded to Jackson’s home on Flint Hill Drive to take a report.  According to the responding officer, it appeared as though someone entered the rear of the home and stole numerous items including a laptop, cell phone, and miscellaneous jewelry.   Among the “miscellaneous jewelry” were ribbons, pins, rank insignias, and aviation pins from World War II.  (These items were grouped together in the report.)  The items belonged to the victim’s late grandfather.

On Saturday, March 28, the Gwinnett County Police Department received a call that a stolen vehicle had been located in the Park Crossing Apartment Complex in Norcross.  Inside the stolen vehicle were several stolen items.  Among the stolen items was a small brown leather pouch with miscellaneous jewelry.

A detective assigned to the Gang Unit located a name on the back of a bracelet inside the pouch.  He then used the internet and located a relative in New York.  This person told the detective that he had a family member who lived in the Atlanta area and gave us his name.  Using our database, we found the original burglary report from March 26.  The detective made contact with the victim who positively identified the jewelry as items belonging to his late grandfather.

On Monday, June 01, the victim traveled to the Gwinnett County Police Department and met with the detective.  During this meeting, the victim was given back his grandfather’s valuable WWII memorabilia in addition to some of the other stolen items.  The victim was truly grateful to have these valuables returned.

The detective in this case has several suspects identified in this and other cases related to burglaries, stolen vehicles, and stolen items.  In an effort to protect this investigation, these suspects are not being identified at this time.
