EVERYONE SAFE FOLLOWING BUFORD HOUSE FIRE

(Buford, Ga., Mar. 3, 2023) At 5:49 p.m. last night, firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on the 2000 block of Appling Circle NE in Buford. The caller, who was a minor, advised that the house behind their residence was on fire. The 911 call taker could hear explosions and popping sounds in the background.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:54 p.m. to find fire showing from the carport of a single-story, single-family dwelling on a basement. Fire crews deployed two 1 ¾ - inch attack lines and established a positive water supply across the street from the residence. Crews searched the interior of the home to confirm that everyone had escaped. The fire was brought under control by 6:09 p.m.

There were no injuries reported during this incident. All firefighters rotated through rehab and decon before returning to service. The homeowner arrived on the scene while crews were performing overhaul activities and confirmed that the house was vacant at the time of the fire. He stated that the house is an ongoing project and has been vacant for the past several weeks. The cause of this fire is undetermined.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 3- Engines, 1-Ladder Truck, 1- Squad, 1 Med Unit, 1- Command Staff Unit, 1- Air and Light Unit, 1- Fire Investigator, and 1-PIO.
