FIREFIGHTERS EXTRICATE OCCUPANT

FROM LOGANVILLE HOUSE FIRE

2400 BLOCK OF TRIBBLE GATES DRIVE SE, LOGANVILLE

INCIDENT DATE: 2/5/19
TIME DISPATCHED: 1:32 P.M.
TIME ARRIVED: 1:36 P.M.
TIME KNOCKED DOWN: 1:46 P.M.

(Loganville, Ga., February 5, 2019) - On February 5, 2019, at 1:32 P.M., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the 2400 block of Tribble Gates Drive SE in unincorporated Loganville. The caller to 9-1-1 reported that a house was on fire and black smoke was coming from the windows and doors.

Crews arrived on scene to find a two-story, single family, wood-framed structure on a basement with heavy fire on the front of the house.  The fire had already vented the second story of the structure.  Per the Incident Commander, firefighters had to immediately fight the intense blaze from the exterior of the structure due to its heavy volume.  As crews battled the fire, they received word that an occupant was still inside.  Immediate entry was made under adverse conditions and a primary search was conducted while multiple fire attack hose lines were deployed to continue to fight the flames.  One adult occupant was found as a result of the search and was rapidly extricated by firefighters. The adult occupant was emergently transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There is extensive fire damage noted throughout the entire house, most notably on the second floor and attic areas.  The rest of the primary and secondary searches did not reveal any other occupants inside of the structure.  American Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the seven individuals displaced (3 adults and 4 children).

Fire Investigators have determined that the fire originated in the living room area but the cause is still under investigation.
