(Duluth, Ga., May 2, 2021) – The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit has made an arrest in the death of a 2 year old female victim at 3500 Venture Parkway #206 (Quality Inn Hotel.) The mother’s boyfriend, Malik Kyhree Kennedy (age 24), has been charged with one count of Felony Murder, one count of 1^st degree Cruelty to Children and held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.

At around 5:42 PM, Rosie Marie Kyle called the 911 center and a medical call was initiated at 3500 Venture Parkway #206 in reference to her 2 year old daughter not breathing or waking up from her nap. Malik was watching the 2 year old victim while Rosie was working.

The fire department attempted to revive the child but were unsuccessful. The child had several bruises on the cheeks with finger and fingernail impressions, a swollen eye, swollen forehead and bruises on the body.

On May 3, 2021 an autopsy was performed on the victim. The autopsy reviled the victim to have sustained a closed head injury to the back of the head. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be a homicide.   Malik Kennedy is being charged with Felony Murder, 1^st degree Cruelty to Children and held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
