HOMICIDE LEAVES ONE FEMALE DECEASED ON GLOSTER MILL DRIVE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Oct 14, 2021) –The Gwinnett Police Department has arrested Corey Dowdell (a 45-year-old black male living in Lawrenceville.) Shortly after 4:30 am, officers responded to a person shot call on the 2000 block of Gloster Mill Drive. Upon arrival, officers located one adult female in the home, on the ground, deceased.

At approximately 10:50 am, Dowdell contacted Gwinnett County 911 Dispatch and advised he wanted to turn himself. Dowdell fled on foot after shooting his wife. Dowdell was arrested and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony. The victim's name is withheld until the family is notified.

At this time, investigators are exploring all motives but it’s believed to be domestic related. Witnesses are encouraged to call GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with any useful information.
