Pedestrian Fatality – Duluth Hwy / Riverside Pkwy

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred yesterday evening. On Monday, April 8, at around 9:30 PM, officers assigned to the Central Precinct were dispatched to a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Duluth Highway (SR120) and Riverside Parkway in unincorporated Lawrenceville. 

Aleksandr Gutsu (age 26, Lawrenceville) was driving a tourquiose 2010 Toyota Camry.  He was traveling westbound on Duluth Highway just crossing Riverside Parkway.  He had a green traffic light.   

Troy Cox (age 58, Lawrenceville) attempted to cross Duluth Highway.  He was struck by the driver of the Camry.  Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears as though Troy did not have right-of-way to cross the road.  He died as a result of his injuries. 

Aleksandr was not injured.  Notification was made to Troy’s family. 

The investigation is still active.
