Protests At Sugarloaf Mills Mall

(Duluth, Georgia) Gwinnett Police together with community partners to include the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County Fire Department, the City of Lawrenceville Police Department and Sugarloaf Mills Mall Security announce the protests at Sugarloaf Mills Mall have ended peacefully tonight.

At approximately 4:30pm groups of peaceful protesters began to gather at Sugarloaf Mills Mall.  As a proactive measure the mall management choose to close and visitors began to disperse.  Crowds of protesters swelled to several hundred and Gwinnett Police responded to maintain the safety of both the protesters and citizens in the area.

While the majority of the protesters were peaceful and law abiding, four individuals were arrested and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.  Booking photos can be obtained through the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.  Two police cars were damaged, but no damage was reported to private businesses.  No injuries to officers or civilians were reported.

We are thankful that our community could come together tonight to express their feelings and concerns in a peaceful manner.  Citizens can expect an increased police presence throughout the county tonight.
