UPDATE #2: (Lawrenceville, GA, October 11, 2022) –Last night, October 10, 2022, Edward Smith turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Jail. He is being held there on charges of Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder.

UPDATE:  (Stone Mountain, GA., October 08, 2022) – The Gwinnett Police Department has identified a suspect in the shooting of the deceased female located off of Stone Mountain Hwy on Friday evening.  Detectives have identified the victim as Breana Rogers; the suspect in the case is Edward Smith, the shooter in yesterday’s incident.  Warrants have been obtained for Smith for Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder.

ORIGINAL:  (Stone Mountain, GA., October 07, 2022) – The Gwinnett Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of an unidentified female victim.

Uniform units responded to a person shot call near 5170 Stone Mountain Highway.  Upon arrival, they located a deceased female outside of a wrecked vehicle.  The vehicle appeared to have been involved in a single vehicle accident in a construction site.  The female had received multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.  Witnesses advised that the suspect fled the scene through the nearby construction site.
