GWINNETT TO UNVEIL THE NEW SENSORY TREEHOUSE

Structure to offer enrichment opportunities for individuals with disabilities

WHAT:       Gwinnett officials will unveil the new Sensory Treehouse, a 20-foot-tall structure featuring a 340-foot-long steel walkway. This initiative will enhance access to enrichment opportunities for residents and visitors with disabilities. The treehouse is surrounded by a viewing and activity platform and a high-hanging hammock. Future plans include a circular audio-visual experience with a domed ceiling, offering diverse teaching and entertainment experiences. Collaborations with various school systems, homeschool groups and neighboring county schools will provide exhibitions and multisensory environmental experiences for all ages. This project is funded by the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

WHO:         Department of Community Services Director Tina Fleming will emcee. Speakers include Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson and District 4 Commissioner Matthew Holtkamp.
