Gwinnett Police will partner with the Drug Enforcement Agency for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative on Saturday, April 27.

This event will allow the public to drop off tablets, capsules, patches, and other forms of prescription medications from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the following collection sites around the county:

  • Police Headquarters - 770 Hi-Hope Road, Lawrenceville
  • District 1 – West Precinct 6160 Crescent Drive, Norcross
  • District 2 – South Precinct 2180 Stone Drive, Lilburn
  • District 3 – North Precinct 2735 Mall of Georgia Boulevard, Buford
  • District 4 – East Precinct 2273 Alcovy Road, Dacula
  • District 5 – Central Precinct 3125 Satellite Boulevard, Duluth
  • District 6 – Bay Creek Precinct 185 Ozora Road, Loganville
  • Coolray Field - 2500 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville

Liquids, syringes, sharps, and other non-prescription drugs will not be accepted. No appointment is needed and anyone dropping off prescription drugs will not be asked about medical history nor how they came into possession of the medications.

The purpose of the take back initiative is to combat overdose deaths. Unused or expired prescription medications can lead to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse. In addition, many teenagers who abuse prescription drugs get them from medicine cabinets in the homes of family or friends. A further benefit to the initiative is to protect the environment as unused drugs flushed down the toilet can contaminate the water supply.
